Fried Green Tomatoes


4 large green tomatoes
1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 cup cornmeal and 1/2 cup bread crumbs
1/2 teaspoon Kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon Tony Chachere's Creole Seasoning
4 tablespoons milk
2 eggs
Cooking oil


1. Slice tomatoes 1/4 inch thick.  In a bowl, mix flour, salt, and Tony's seasoning.  In another bowl, mix eggs and milk.  Place cornmeal and breadcrumbs in a third bowl.
2. Coat tomatoes with the flour mixture, then the egg wash, then coat with cornmeal + bread crumbs.
3. Fill the bottom of a skillet with 1/2 inch of cooking oil and cook on medium heat
4. Fry coated tomatoes in oil until golden brown on both sides, but still firm
5. Drain on paper towels, and serve


Choose firm green tomatoes.  Top with ranch dressing or hot sauce.
