Chicken Karahi Recipe

Chicken Karahi


1 lb chicken
1/2 tomato, chopped
2 tbsp oil
2 tbsp yogurt
5 large green chilis, chopped
2 tbsp ginger paste
1 tbsp chopped ginger
2 tbsp butter
Sea salt

1 tbsp dried red chili powder
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp coriander seeds, ground
1 tbsp garam masala mix, ground


1) Cut chicken into desired size chunks. Recommend double bite sized.
2) Heat the oil in a large saucepan or wok, add chicken and sear lightly.
3) Add ginger paste, and cook on medium heat, stirring as ingredients are added.
4) Chop tomato and combine with chicken mixture.
5) In a separate small dish, mix the spices.  This will be your masala.
6) Combine the masalas with the chicken mixture stir until spices are evenly mixed.
7) Add yogurt.  
8) Cook on medium heat until the liquid begins to thicken, then add butter, reducing heat to low.
9) Now combine chopped ginger and green chili and add it to the mixture.


Salt to taste and Serve hot over a bed of rice with fresh Naan.  Enjoy cooking Chicken Karahi.
