Southern Style Chicken Fried Steak Recipe

Southern Style Chicken Fried Steak


4 cubed steaks
1/4 cup flour
2 large eggs, beaten
2/3 cup bread crumbs
1/2 teaspoon seasoning salt
3 tablespoons canola oil

1 12-oz tube pork sausage
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 cups milk
fresh ground black pepper (added to taste)


1.  Combine salt and flour in a shallow dish
2.  Cover steaks in flour mix
3.  Dip steaks into beaten egg bath
4.  Cover steaks completely with bread crumbs
5.  Pour oil in a pan, and add steaks.  Cook 4 minutes per side, or until golden brown.
6.  Make gravy below

1.  Heat a skillet over medium-high heat.
2.  Add sausage, breaking it up with a wooden spoon and cook.  Stir occasionally until browned.
3.  Pour milk into the skillet, then while whisking constantly add the flour.  Bring to a light boil.
4.  Lower the heat and simmer for 2 minutes, adding black pepper to taste.

Plate the steaks, pouring gravy over 3/4 of the steak or as preferred.
Serve and enjoy.


Keep steaks warm while making the gravy by covering plate in foil, resting in a microwave.
